Dillon Jones makes NBA debut in Salt Lake City

Jones started all three games of the Salt Lake City Summer League for the Oklahoma City Thunder and averaged 12.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
Dillon Jones began his NBA career, in the same state of his college career. Jones played in three games at the Salt Lake City Summer League July 8-10 in Salt Lake City in his first NBA action after getting drafted in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft.Â
Jones started all three games for the Thunder and averaged 12.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. He averaged 28 minutes per game and knocked down five 3-pointers in the three games, helping the Thunder to a 2-1 record. He scored 21 points in Tuesday's win over the Utah Jazz and was 7 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 3 from 3-point range. He also had seven rebounds and four assists in that win.Â
Jones and the Thunder will now head to Las Vegas to join all NBA teams at the Las Vegas Summer League from July 12-22. The first of five scheduled games will be on Saturday, July 13 against the Toronto Raptors. They will also play the Miami Heat on July 15, the Phoenix Suns on July 17, and the Golden State Warriors on July 19 before the playoffs of the Summer League. All games will be televised on NBA TV or one of the ESPN platforms and streamed on the ESPN app.Â
Jones became the 17th player in Weber State history to be drafted in the NBA Draft and joined Damian Lillard as the only two ever drafted in the first round when he was selected 26th overall. The Thunder traded five future second round picks to move up to select Jones.Â
He was the 2024 Big Sky MVP and a top-five finalist for the Julius Erving Award. He was a two-time All-Big Sky First Team selection and finished his Wildcat career ranked in the all-time top 10 in 13 different categories.Â
