'Cats record dominating performances at Snake River Open

The 'Cats wrapped up the Idaho State University Snake River Open with a handful of dominating performances between January 16 & 17 in Pocatello, Idaho.
 
Abby Triplett moved into tenth on the all-time list with a first place finish in the high jump. Triplett recorded a mark of 5-08.00, Aimee Chambers-Lenthe finished fifth at 5-04.25 and Stacia Barker finished sixth at 5-02.25. 

Shannan Fonua finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 54-11.50 and moved into ninth place on the all-time list, Teisa Halaufia recorded a mark of 46-07.25, Bailey Tovey finished with a 44-09.50.

Eliza Smith qualified for the 60 meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.78 seconds and a fifth place finish in the finals with a time of 8.91. Smith was previously ninth on the all-time list with a time of 8.80, she will stay in ninth place but with the updated time of 8.78. 

"I was happy with the meet, happy with the three who made it in the top ten," head coach Paul Pilkington said. "We had a really good meet."

Eight 'Cats competed in the 3000 meter and they all finished in the top 20. Saga Hagelin led the squad with a first place finish and a time of 9:47.64, Laurie Murphy finished fourth at 9:54.16, Danielle Brow finished seventh at 10:05.65 and Hanna Bailey was close behind in eighth at 10:15.64, Courtney Earl finished in 10th at 10:26.74, Trisha Thompson Davis recorded a 14th place finish at 10:31.14, Hailey Low finished 15th at 10:32.17 and Jessica Hill finished in 18th at 10:36.31. 

Five Wildcats recorded top 20 finishes in 800 meters. Charlotte Wilkinson finished second at 2:14.14, Angelyca Chapman finished seventh with a time of 2:19.17, Maggie Featherstone finished ninth at 2:19.74, Loryn Brimhall finished 18th at 2:22.62 and Brooklyn Dayley finished 19th at 2:22.72. 

Audrey Camp Cazier finished second in the mile at 5:01.80, Frances Hudson finished 12th at 5:17.44 and Alyssa Kleinman finished at 5:30.90. 

Smith, Wilkinson, Jasmine Devers, and Chapman recorded a third place finish in the 4x400 relay with a time 3:56.23. 

Devers recorded seventh place finish in the 60 meter prelims with a time of 7.77 seconds and Makayla Oliver finished 11th at 7.87. 

Oliver finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 17-00.50, Triplett finished eighth at 16-07.75 and Abby Titus finished at 16-00.25. 

Kapua Pulotu led the 'Cats in the shot put with a mark of 43-07.75 in the eighth, Tovey finished 11th at 42-01.25, Rachel Roberts finished in 12th at 40-10.25, Fonua finished 18th at 38-09.50 and Halaufia finished 20th 38-04.00. 

Devers recorded an eighth place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 25.18, Smith finished ninth at 25.19, Oliver 25.57 and Emily Gwilliam finished with a time 26.97. 

The 'Cats will be back in action next week with athletes traveling between three meets. They will compete at the Washington Invitational  and the New Mexico Team Open from January 31 to February 1 and the Utah State Speed and Power meet on February 1.
