Weber State drops five-set battle to Northern Arizona

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona - Wildcat volleyball dropped a five-set decision this Thursday evening to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. Despite the 'Cats securing an early 2-0 advantage in the match, Northern Arizona battled back to secure a 3-2 match win.
Coming out hot, Weber State secured the opening set 25-18 and the second set 25-16.
The Wildcats used a four-point run to go up 15-9 over the Lumberjacks to begin the match. Using another 4-0 run to go up 24-17, the set was closed out following a Lumberjack error. In a similar fashion, the Wildcats used a trio of four-point runs to take a 12-3 lead over Northern Arizona. Creating an advantage that the Lumberjacks could not recover from, another NAU error sealed the set for the 'Cats.
Northern Arizona found its momentum in the third set, using eight straight points to take a 14-3 lead. Unable to close the gap, the Lumberjacks secured the set 25-11. Into the fourth set, NAU jumped to a 6-0 advantage and used a 5-0 run to take a 25-12 victory.
With the match tied at 2-2, the Wildcats and Lumberjacks went neck-and-neck in the deciding set. Weber State took the lead 4-1 as they used two Wildcat kills and two Lumberjack errors. From that point on, neither team was able to pull ahead by more than a few points. A Kaylie Ray kill put the Wildcats down by one at 13-12, however, back-to-back Lumberjack kills won the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.

Rose Moore led the squad with 15 kills, Ashley Gneiting was also in double-digits with 13 kills. Weber State finished the match with 50 kills on 159 total attacks and 30 errors for a .126 hitting percentage.
