Wildcats close out season with dominating win over NAU

Weber State beats the Lumberjacks 48-28 in Red Rock Rivalry trophy game.
The win also gave the Wildcats the Red Rock Rivalry trophy.Â
The Wildcats totaled 474 yards of offense compared to NAU's 303, fueled by 197 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Northern Arizona managed only 53 rushing yards. The 'Cats passed for 277 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Weber State recorded three sacks for 25 yards and 11 tackles for loss.
The game opened with a flurry of big plays. Weber State struck first, marching 75 yards in six plays and scoring on a 24-yard burst from Colter May at 12:03 of the first quarter. NAU answered quickly, but the Wildcats reclaimed the lead on the next possession when Spencer Ferguson ripped off a 50-yard touchdown run at the 4:50 mark. NAU immediately countered with a 74-yard touchdown to tie the game 14-14.
The Wildcats took control in the second quarter. Kingston Tisdell found Spencer Ferguson for a 16-yard touchdown pass to put Weber State up 21-14. Sloan Calder pushed the lead to 10 with a 27-yard field goal. The 'Cats led 24-21 at halftime after an NAU interception return touchdown.Â
Just two minutes into the third quarter, Tisdell found Marvin Session for a 61-yard touchdown, to make it 31-21. After Sione Hala intercepted an NAU pass on the next series, Calder drilled a 26-yard field goal to make it 34-21.Â
In the fourth quarter, May scored his second touchdown of the day on a 28-yard run, stretching the lead to 41–21. After NAU managed one final touchdown, Bird Butler capped the scoring with an 8-yard rushing TD in the final minutes to seal the win.Â
Redshirt freshman Spencer Ferguson had 165 yards of total offense with two touchdowns as he ran for 102 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, and had six receptions for 63 yards and another touchdown.Â
Senior Colter May rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns. He also had six receptions for 46 yards.Â
In just his fourth career game, true freshman Tisdell was 26 of 38 passing for 277 yards with two touchdowns.Â
Nine different Wildcats caught a pass. Marvin Session had three catches for 84 yards.Â
Defensively, Sione Hala led the Wildcats with seven tackles, including 15 tackles for loss, and had an interception. Chevy Robinson had two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss.Â
Sloan Calder was 2 of 2 on field goals and finished the season with 18 field goals, second-most of any player in the country.
The game was Senior Day for 15 Wildcat seniors in their final game at Weber State.Â
WSU ends the 2025 season at 4-8 overall and 2-6 in Big Sky Conference play.Â
