Weber State’s tough second-half performance secures a 68-60 win over LMU

LOS ANGELES - Weber State women's basketball secured a 68-60 win over the LMU Lions in their first game of the LMU Tournament.
Makenna Shaffer-Lauer started strong, scoring the Wildcats first seven points and giving them an early three-point lead. However, LMU responded with a 7-0 run to take an 11-7 advantage, but despite this, the Wildcats fought back to tie the score at 13-13 and close the first quarter.
Weber State kept it tight throughout the second quarter, staying within a few points of the Lions. The 'Cats eventually claimed their first lead of the quarter with a layup from Antoniette Emma-Nnopu. Maintaining this advantage, Hannah Robbins closed the half with a good 3-pointer, giving Weber State a 27-25 lead to close the half.
At the half, Weber State was shooting 45 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. The Wildcats were led by Robbins with eight points and Lanae Billy with six rebounds. LMU was shooting just 36.7 percent from the field and zero percent from behind the arc.
The Wildcats used 20 points in the third quarter to maintain a 47-45 advantage that the Lions could not overcome. Continuing that offense into the final frame of gameplay, Weber State used two 5-0 runs to secure a 68-60 win over the Lions.
