Wildcats honored for success at the 2025 Waldo Awards

Weber State Athletics honored the great, great, great performances by WSU student-athletes at the 2025 Waldo Awards.

OGDEN - Weber State Athletics recently honored the top performances from the past year at the annual Waldo Awards. 

The Waldo Awards honor the great, great, great individual and team performances during the past year at Weber State. Awards include athletes of the year, career achievement awards, team of the year, and many more.

The 2025 Waldo Awards were held on April 1 and honored the success of Weber State teams and athletes from the spring 2024 sports, the 2024 fall sports, and the winter 2024-25 sports. The winners were selected by the WSU student-athletes and the Waldo Awards committee. 

Weber State volleyball senior Kate Payne was named the Female Athlete of the Year, and men's basketball senior Blaise Threatt was honored as the Male Athlete of the Year. Both athletes earned first-team All-Big Sky Conference honors during their seasons. 

Ana Morett from women's tennis received the Female Career Achievement Award, and Isaac Buerger from men's golf won the Male Career Achievement Award. 

The defending national champion Weber State Cheer and Dance teams shared the Team of the Year award. Both teams won two national titles in 2024. 

The WSU football team was honored with the Male Team Performance Award for its 55-48 overtime win at eighth-ranked Montana in October. The WSU softball team won the Female Team Performance Award for its upset at 19th ranked Texas A&M. 

Women's basketball head coach Jenteal Jackson was named the Coach of the Year after leading Weber State to its best finish in the Big Sky in 18 years. 

Kemari Munier-Bailey of the football team was awarded the Male Newcomer of the Year award and 

Koby McEwen of the men's basketball team was awarded the Male Newcomer of the Year trophy. 

Jayda Tupea of volleyball and Gavin Ortega of football were given the Iron Wildcat Awards by the WSU strength and conditioning coaches. 

The Weber State women's soccer team received the Community Engagement Award for their work in the community, and the men's golf team won the Athletic Director's Cup. 

The event was hosted by Eva Richardson (softball) and Cam Canada (cheer) as well as other WSU student-athletes.
