Weber State boasts strong NCAA APR report

A total of nine Wildcat programs had a perfect single-year APR score and seven teams were at or above the national average.

Weber State University student-athletes continued to achieved academic success in the latest NCAA Academic Progress Report (APR), released Tuesday by the NCAA. 

Each academic year, every Division I sports team's APR is calculated using a simple and consistent formula. Scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for staying on course for a degree in their chosen major and 1 point for being retained (or graduating) at the end of each academic term. For schools that do not offer athletics scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked. 

In the latest report, all Weber State squads were above the NCAA minimum score of 930 with no penalties and remain eligible for postseason competition.  

The WSU men's tennis team received public recognition for finishing in the top 10% of its sport adn had a perfect 1,000 multiyear rate. The men's tennis team is one of 18 teams across the Big Sky to achieve this. 

The men's tennis team also led or tied for the lead of all men's tennis programs in the state of Utah and the Big Sky Conference. The Wildcat softball team also led the Big Sky. 

A total of nine of Weber State's 14 programs posted a perfect 1,000 single-year APR score in 2023-24. Those squads are men's tennis, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, softball, women's tennis, women's track and field, and volleyball. 

In addition, seven of the 14 programs finished at or above the national average rate in their sport: football, men's basketball, men's golf, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's golf, and women's soccer. 

The Weber State men's basketball team and the women's golf team, each had their highest multi-year scores in program history.
