WSU men’s basketball roster set for 2025-26 season

Wildcats have added four transfers and four high school players to join the five returning players who were a part of last year’s team.
Head coach Eric Duft and the Weber State men's basketball team have set the roster for the 2025-26 season with the addition of four transfers and four high school players, joining five players who were a part of last year's team. 
Returners
The Wildcats will have four players returning who saw action last season and one red shirt.
Nigel Burris played in 33 games for the Wildcats last season and will be the only senior on next year's squad.
Junior Viljami Vartiainen played in all 34 games last season and averaged 8.9 points per game. He scored 30 points with six 3-pointers in the Big Sky Tournament win over Sacramento State.
Trevor Hennig will return as a sophomore. He played in all 34 games and started the final 11 games of the season. He finished the year at 7.8 points per game and was WSU's third-leading scorer in conference play.
Declan Cutler also returns as a sophomore. He played in 30 gams and started in 10 of the final 11 games at center for the 'Cats.
Weber State also returns red shirt freshman David Hansen. Hansen, a 6-9 forward out of Magrath, Alberta, Canada, sat out last season as a red shirt with the 'Cats.
Transfers
Weber State added four transfers to join next year's team with two Division I transfers, one Division II transfer, and one junior college transfer.
Junior Malek Gomma joined Weber State as a 6-8 transfer from Seattle University. He played two seasons at Seattle, appearing in 52 games with nine starts. He averaged 3.3 points and shot 58 percent from the field as a sophomore with the Redhawks. Gomma is a native of Seattle.
Jace Whiting joins Weber State as a junior transfer. He spent two seasons at Boise State, then one year last season at UNLV.
In his two years at Boise State, Whiting played in 66 games and started 11 games. He averaged 3.3 points per game and shot 50 percent from 3-point range as a sophomore in 2023-24. He also dished out 81 assists and had 26 steals in his two seasons with the Broncos.
He played in two games at UNLV before suffering a season-ending foot injury.
Whiting played high school basketball in Burley, Idaho, but also grew up in northern Utah and Italy.
His father Trent played basketball at BYU, and his mother Amber played one season for Weber State women's basketball. She was also the head coach of the BYU women's basketball team for the last three seasons.
Weber State added Tijan Saine as a junior transfer from Division II Western Washington. Saine, a 5-10 guard, played two seasons at Western Washington and earned first-team all-conference honors as a sophomore last season. He started 21 games and averaged 17.3 points, 4.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game during his sophomore season. He also shot 89.8 percent from the free throw line, second in the conference, and scored a career-high 37 points in a win over Western Oregon.
In his two seasons at Western Washington, Saine averaged 13.7 points per game and appeared in 52 games with 33 starts. He had 160 assists and knocked down 78 3-pointers in two seasons. He was named the conference Freshman of the Year in 2023-24. Saine is a native of Everett, Washington
The Wildcats also added a junior college transfer in junior Edwin Suarez, who comes to WSU after two seasons at Arizona Western College. Suarez is a 6-6 guard/forward and last season was named the player of the year in the Arizona Community College Athletic Association and was a third-team NCJAA All-American. He averaged 13.4 points and 8.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore and shot 53.7 percent from the field. In his two seasons at Arizona Western, Suarez played in 60 games and started 41 games.
Suarez is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and will become the first player in Weber State history from Puerto Rico. He played high school basketball in Lauderdale, Pennsylvania. He was born in Puerto Rico, and his mother is from the Dominican Republic. He played for the Dominican Republic in the FIBA Americas U18 Championships.
High school additions
In addition, the Wildcats will have added four high school freshmen to join Weber State next season.
ArDarius Grayson, a 6-1 guard, comes to Weber State from Oakland, California, where he played at Oakland Tech High School. He led Oakland Tech to a state championship as a senior.
Anthony Moore, a 6-5 guard from Stockton, California, will also join the Wildcats this season as a freshman. He played at Lincoln High School and led his team to the state championship game. He averaged 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game as a senior.
Duce Paschal is a 6-5 guard from Portland, Oregon. He played at Central Catholic High School and averaged 15 points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists per game as a senior. He also earned all-conference first team honors and shot 55 percent from the field.
WSU will also add 6-8 forward/center Bourgeios Tshilobo, a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He played high school basketball at Bishop Alemany in Mission Hills, California. As a senior, Tshilobo averaged 9.0 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game and shot 62 percent from the field.
Duft will return for his fourth season as head coach of the Wildcats and his 20th overall season on the staff at Weber State. He has guided the 'Cats to 50 wins in his first three seasons as head coach.
 
Returners
