2025 Big Sky Football Kickoff this weekend

Head coach Mickey Mental, Matt Herron, and Gavin Ortega will represent Weber State at the Kickoff this weekend in Spokane.
Weber State football begins practice for the 2025 season in less than two week, and this weekend will mark the annual Big Sky Football Kickoff.Â
This weekend's event will be Saturday-Monday and will once again be held at the Northern Quest Resort and Casino in Spokane, Washington.Â
Two players and the head coach from all 12 Big Sky schools will be in attendance at the Kickoff.Â
Wildcat head coach Mickey Mental will be joined by junior defensive tackle Matt Herron and senior offensive lineman Gavin Oretga at the event, which will include media interviews as well as video and photo shoots, in addition to a youth football clinic led by the Big Sky football players.Â
Earlier this week, Ortega was named to the Stats Perform Preseason All-America team.Â
The Big Sky preseason all-conference teams will be announced on Sunday. On Monday, July 21, interviews with all coaches and players will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Scripps TV.Â
Coach Mental and the Wildcat players will be live on ESPN+ and Scripps at approximately 9:27 a.m. Pacific time (10:27 Mountain time) on Monday.Â
Saturday's Big Sky Hall of Fame ceremony and Monday's Kickoff media interviews will be streamed live on ESPN+ and Scripps Sports. They will be televised in Utah on Utah 16.Â
Weber State opens fall practice on Wednesday, July 30. The 2025 season begins with three straight road games starting on August 30 at James Madison.Â
The home opener is set for September 20 against Butler. Weber State also hosts Sacramento State, Eastern Washington, Montana, and Northern Arizona.
