Five Wildcat teams named Big Sky Academic Champions

OGDEN - Weber State led all schools with five Wildcat teams being named Big Sky Conference Academic Champions for the 2024-25 school year.

For the third consecutive summer, the Big Sky has recognized the top academic team across all sponsored sports.

The Academic Champion is based on the combined team GPA for the entire 2024-25 academic calendar, not just the season they competed in.

The five teams honored are the most in a year by any school in Big Sky history.

It's the third straight honor for the Weber State women's cross country team, which boasted a 3.83 team GPA. The team has led all Big Sky women's cross country teams in each of the three years the conference has awarded a team academic champion.

The WSU women's track and field team posted a 3.72 team GPA.

The Wildcat men's basketball team won the honor for the second straight year

It's also the second straight team Academic Champion honor for the Weber State softball team, which led the conference with a 3.67 team GPA. On the field, the Wildcats captured the Big Sky Tournament title and won a game in the NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcat football team won the Team Academic Champion honor for the first time, as the 'Cats led all 12 Big Sky football programs with a 3.39 team GPA.

During the past year, Weber State had 242 student-athletes earn Big Sky Academic All-Conference honors, the most of any Big Sky school. WSU student-athletes also earned multiple academic all-district and academic All-America honors.
