Ogden, UT - The Weber State Women's Soccer team opened their 2025 season with a 5-0 exhibition win over the Snow College Badgers.
The potential of where we are and what we can do this season, I am super excited for. Kyle Christensen said, The biggest takeaway I'm most excited about is the energy and the commitment to win the ball back.
The Wildcats put consistent pressure on the Badger defense all night, breaking through twice in the first half and 3 times in the second.
Presley Ray put the 'Cats on the board in the 8th minute following an assist from Sayler Schlosser. The Wildcats would get on the board again with a 1st half buzzer-beater courtesy of Haley Hutchins (Lindon, UT/Timpanogos).
In the 2nd half, the 'Cats got on the board quickly and in bunches, scoring 3 goals in 14 minutes. Brynlee Meyerhoffer cashed in in the 55th minute with Tenzi Knowles bookending in both the 54th and 68th minute, including one from long range on the right wing.
The Wildcat defense was stifling all night, not allowing the Badgers to get into a rhythm and only allowing the Badgers to possess the ball for 35% of the match.
Next up for the team is a road trip to the Pacific Northwest to take on both Oregon and Oregon State. The Ducks are coming off a 2024 season where they finished with a 5-11-2 record and a 1-8-2 mark in Big 10 conference play. The Beavers finished 2024 with a 7-9-2 record and a 5-3-2 record in conference play.
The Wildcats' next home game will be August 21st at 7:00 p.m. when they play host to CSU Bakersfield.
