Wildcats Grab First Round Lead at Utah Fall Intercollegiate

EDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's golf team grabbed a commanding 14-shot lead with a 5-over par opening round of 293 as the Utah Fall Intercollegiate got underway on Sunday at the Wolf Creek Resort Golf Course.

Utah Tech shot 307, while Southern Utah and Utah Valley each shot 312.

The tournament-host Wildcats were led by Emily Song, who shot an opening round 4-under par 68 to take the individual lead by four shots over teammate Cala Korman, who is in second place following an even-par 72.

Jade Gruher shot 75 and is tied for 6th place overall, while Sofia Fuenmayor is tied for 12th after a 78 on the day. Adley Nelson shot an 81 in the opening round and is tied for 23rd overall.

Playing as individuals, Braylyn Bayer and Brynn Bischoff posted good rounds with Bayer shooting 75 to join the tie for 6th and Bischoff carding a 78 to tie for 12th.

Also playing as individuals, Rachel Lillywhite shot 81, while freshman Erika Kobayashi shot 90 in her collegiate debut.

The final 18 holes will be played on Monday, with play beginning at 9:00 a.m.
