Wildcats top Vandals in Ogden

9/28/2025 2:51:00 PM | Women's Soccer

Ogden, UT - The Weber State Wildcats women's soccer team defeated the Idaho Vandals 3-1 on Sunday to move to 8-4 on the season and open with a 2-0 record in Big Sky play.

"Super proud of the group." Head Coach Kyle Christensen said, "Starting 2-0 in conference is extremely important to give us a chance moving forward."

The Wildcats attacked the Vandal defensive line all game, outshooting Idaho 21-7, including a 16-6 mark in the second half.

Brynlee Meyerhoffer put the first Wildcat goal of the match into the back of the net off an assist by Isabella Sackett in the 14th minute. It was Meyerhoffer's 4th goal of the season to take the lead for the team.

The Wildcats took the 1-0 lead into the half; however, it would not last long.

In the 48th minute, Sayler Schlosser had her shot turned away by the Vandal keeper, but Tenzi Knowles scored off the rebound to put the 'Cats up 2.

Schlosser pushed the lead to 3 with a goal in the 56th minute off an assist from Grace Kirby. Schlosser took the ball at the top of the box, created space, and put it on the top deck out of the reach of the Idaho goalie.

Idaho was able to get on the board in the 66th minute, converting on a corner kick, but that was all they could muster. The Vandals took just 4 shots on goal during the match.

The Wildcats came close to goal number 4 as Tenzi Knowles had a shot go off the post in the 51st, and Harlee Thomas had her shot saved by the keeper in the 83rd minute.

The 'Cats now move to 8-4 on the season with a 2-0 mark in Big Sky Conference play after beating Eastern Washington and Idaho over the weekend homestand.

The team will take the field next on Thursday, October 2nd, against Portland State. Before the match, the Wildcats will honor six Wildcat seniors: Ella Sanders, Brynlee Meyerhoffer, Grace Kirby, Tenzi Knowles, Sammie Sofonia, and Sayler Schlosser.

That match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at the Wildcat Soccer Field.
