Weber State Volleyball Named Commissioner’s Team of the Month

FARMINGTON - After starting the season with a perfect 3-0 record, Weber State's volleyball squad has been named Big Sky Commissioner's Team of the Month for August, the conference office announced today.
The Wildcats started their season with a 3-0 sweep of Nevada, knocking off the Mountain West Conference foe at home in Swenson Gym. That matchup was part of the Wildcat Invitational, where WSU also saw victories over both UC Irvine (3-1) and Southern Utah (3-0).
Weber State was led by Rose Moore on the offense, and she was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts. She totaled 38 kills on the weekend and had a new single-game career high 20 kills against UC Irvine. Through all three contests, she recorded a .337 hitting percentage.
In the Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Wildcats were projected to be the top team in the Big Sky, receiving five of the 10 available first-place votes.
Weber State will continue its season this evening in St. George, Utah, as they'll take on Utah Tech as part of another weekend of tournament play.
