Wildcats drop match to Trailblazers

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Weber State's early-season momentum was put to a stop as the Wildcats were swept 3-0 by the Trailblazers to begin the Utah Tech Tournament.Â
This marks Weber State's first loss of the season, dropping their record to 3-1 overall. Utah Tech quickly took control of the first set as the Wildcats struggled to find rhythm offensively. Errors by the Wildcats allowed Utah Tech to build a lead that Weber State could not recover from as the Trailblazers pulled away for a 25-16 first set win.
The Wildcats found momentum in the second set, sticking close to the Trailblazers and tying the score multiple times. However, a late run by Utah Tech secured the set 25-20. The Trailblazers closed the match as they continued to put the pressure on the Wildcats. Unable to slow down Utah Tech's attack, the Trailblazers sealed the sweep with a 25-15 victory.
The Wildcats were outshone in every category, hitting .106 compared to Utah Tech's .323. Ashley Gneiting led the Wildcats with 10 kills, while Rose Moore added eight.Â
