Weber State falls to Montana State

OGDEN - Weber State women's basketball fell by a score of 92-72 to the number one-ranked Montana State Bobcats.Â
Montana State jumped out to an early 6-0 lead before Weber State responded with two good 3-pointers from Lanae Billy and Makenna Shaffer-Lauer, cutting the deficit to two. Montana State then went on an 11-point run to push its lead to 22-9. However, Billy remained a threat, dropping two more 3-pointers and finishing the first quarter 4-for-4 from beyond the arc, leaving the Wildcats trailing 23-17 to end the first quarter.Â
The second quarter opened with another 3-pointer from Billy, narrowing the Wildcats deficit to just three points. Weber State remained competitive, scoring 15 points to Montana State's 21 in the quarter. However, a 13-0 run by the Bobcats ensured that they finished the half ahead, 44-32.
Billy put up 22 points in the first half, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from behind the arc.Â
Montana State pulled away from Weber State in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 30-11 to take a commanding 74-43 lead. The Bobcats had established a 56-34 advantage within the first five minutes of the quarter.
Weber State fought back in the final frame, using a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 77-61. However, Montana State responded with a late 11-0 surge, securing a lead that the Wildcats could not overcome. The final score was 92-72 in favor of the Bobcats.
