Weber State falls short in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, California - The Weber State women's basketball team suffered a loss to the Sacramento State Hornets this Saturday afternoon, dropping the Wildcats to a 0-2 record in the Big Sky Conference.

Sacramento State started strong, jumping out to a 17-4 lead over Weber State with a pair of scoring runs. The Wildcats managed to narrow the gap by the end of the quarter, closing the deficit to just eight points courtesy of a Sydney White 3-pointer and two good jumpers.

Weber State added 15 points in the second quarter, however, Sacramento State maintained its lead, going into halftime ahead 34-26.

After the break, Weber State's first points of the quarter came with less than five minutes remaining, courtesy of a Lanae Billy jumper. The Wildcats added four more points before the quarter concluded, 45-32.

In the final period, Sacramento State used a seven-point run to increase its lead and ultimately secure the game 60-39.

Sydney White led the squad with 15 points.
Weber State shot 28.6 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from behind the arc.
The Wildcats now sit 6-9, 0-2 on the season.

The Wildcats will continue conference play at home on January 8, facing Northern Arizona with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
