Korman Dominates as Wildcats Drop Final Match at Mountain Classic

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Cala Korman recorded a dominating 6 & 5 win for Weber State's lone point as the Wildcats fell to Boise State 1-4-0 in the team's final contest of the Mountain Classic Match Play tournament at The Classic Club on Wednesday.
Korman carded three birdies on the day in her match against Jillian Hui. Two of those birdies came on a four-hole stretch from No. 6 through 9 in which she won all four holes to push a 1-up lead to 5-up. She then put the match away with a par on No. 13 to go 6-up with five to play. Korman finished the tournament with a 3-0 record to lead the way for the Wildcats in the spring season opener.
The Broncos swept the other four matches in the team event. Macee Greenwood defeated Jade Gruher 4 & 3, Brooke Patterson took down Emily Song 1-Up and Leia Chung defeated Braylyn Bayer 2 & 1, In the final match of the day, Teal Matsueda outlasted Sofia Fuenmayor 2-Up despite Fuenmayor carding six birdies on the day.
In an individual match, Adley Nelson dropped her match to Jaime Hards 4 & 2.
For the tournament, the Wildcats went 0-2-1 with ties against Washington State and Wyoming before the loss to Boise State.
Individually, Korman led the way for the Wildcats, winning all three matches for a full three points, while Bayer earned 1.5 points, going 1-1-1 for the week.
