Big Sky Football Kickoff and fall practice set to begin

Weber State football will head to Spokane this weekend for the Big Sky Football Kickoff. Practice for the 2026 season begins on Tuesday, July 28.
It's a big week ahead for Weber State football. The Big Sky Conference will hold its annual Football Kickoff Saturday-Monday, July 25-27, and the Wildcats will begin fall camp with their first practice on Tuesday, July 28.Â
The Big Sky Kickoff will be held at the Northern Quest Resort & Casino, just outside of Spokane, Washington.Â
The head coach and two student-athletes from each of the 13 Big Sky Football schools will be in attendance.Â
Weber State will be represented by new Wildcat head coach Eric Kjar, along with senior transfer quarterback Devin Brown and senior safety Trevian Tribble. Associate head coach Tanner Jacobsen will also be in attendance.Â
The Kickoff weekend will include the Big Sky Hall of Fame ceremony with eight inductees. Former Weber State track and field standout Amber Henry and Wildcat men's basketball player Willie Sojourner will be among the inductees. The Hall of Fame ceremony will begin at 8 p.m. MT on Saturday night and will be televised on ESPN+ and The Spot channel 16 in Utah.Â
On Monday, July 27, the Big Sky Kickoff will feature over four hours of live coverage beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT on ESPN+ and Scripps Sports. The Big Sky's Meghan Robinson and Scripps Sports' Kyle Hansen will co-host coverage for the day, with interviews from all 13 football teams, Commissioner Tom Wistrcill, and special guests throughout the day.Â
Coach Kjar and the Wildcat players will be interviewed on ESPN+ at 10:44 a.m. Mountain time.Â
Kjar was named the head coach at Weber State in December and takes over the Wildcats after unprecedented success as a high school coach, having won seven Utah state titles.Â
Brown, a native of Gilbert, Arizona, transferred to Weber State in January after stops at Ohio State and Cal. Brown played one season of high school football at Corner Canyon under coach Kjar. He was highly recruited and spent three seasons at Ohio State and was part of the national championship team in 2024. He spent last season at Cal before transferring to Weber State for his senior season.Â
Tribble is a senior out of Fontana, California. He has been a part of the Wildcat program for the last four seasons and has appeared in 34 games in his Weber State career.Â
On Tuesday morning, July 28, the Wildcats will hold the first practice of fall camp in preparation for the 2026 season.Â
The Wildcats open the season with three straight road games, beginning on August 28 at Northern Colorado.Â
The home opener will be on September 19 against Northwestern State. Weber State will have six home games this season, including conference games against Portland State, Idaho, Idaho State, UC Davis, and Utah Tech.Â
