Weber State football opens practice for 2026 season

The Wildcats open the 2026 season on August 28 at Northern Colorado
Football was in the air on Tuesday morning as the Weber State football team opened a new era of Wildcat football.Â
New head coach Eric Kjar led the Wildcats in their first fall practice in preparation for the 2026 season.Â
The first practice was held one month before the season begins, which will be on August 28 at Northern Colorado.Â
Kjar was named the head coach at Weber State in December and takes over the Wildcats after unprecedented success as a high school coach, having won seven Utah state titles.Â
Weber State has approximately 75 new players from last year's team.Â
The home opener for the 2026 season will be on September 19 against Northwestern State. Weber State will have six home games this season, including conference games against Portland State, Idaho, Idaho State, UC Davis, and Utah Tech.Â
