Wildcats Earn Second Straight Victory Over Oregon State

Simone Packer and Amanda Caswell find the net as Weber earns its second straight win
OGDEN, Utah – Weber State soccer earned its second straight victory Sunday afternoon, defeating Oregon State 2-1 at Wildcat Soccer Field.
The Wildcats controlled the match offensively, finishing with 20 shots, including 11 on goal, while holding Oregon State to just six shots and three on frame.
Weber State opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Simone Packer converted a penalty kick at 23:08 to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
Oregon State answered less than two minutes later, scoring at 24:56 to level the match at 1-1.
The Wildcats continued to pressure the Beavers throughout the second half, recording 11 shots after halftime. Weber State broke through again in the 79th minute when Amanda Caswell found the back of the net at 78:25 on an unassisted goal, giving the Wildcats a 2-1 advantage.
Weber State's defense held Oregon State scoreless over the remainder of the match to secure the victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Butorac recorded two saves for the Wildcats, while Oregon State's Libby Brooker made nine saves.
Packer led Weber State with four shots, including two on goal. Caswell added three shots with two on frame, while Oakley Anderson also recorded three shots, including two on goal.
Isabelle Dahl and Cadence Packer each recorded two shots, with all four attempts finding the frame. Bonnie Buswell added two shots, while Kenadee Godderidge, Cloe Baugh, Cici Garcia and Harlee Thomas each recorded one shot.
The victory gives Weber State two straight wins after the Wildcats earned their first victory of the season Thursday at Wyoming. Weber State improves to 2-1-1 on the season.
The Wildcats will return to action Saturday against Long Beach State.
