2019 was the first season for Shaun Harper as an assistant coach with the Wildcats. He joined Weber State in the summer of 2019 and coaches the Wildcat cornerbacks. 

In 2019, Harper helped lead Weber State to a three-straight Big Sky title and a trip to the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs. Weber State finished the season ranked third in the nation, the highest ranking in school history. 

The Wildcat defense also led the Big Sky in total defense, scoring defense, rushing defense and interceptions. 

Harper coached Eddie Heckard to second-team All-Big Sky honors in 2019. 

Harper came to Weber State after coaching the previous two seasons at Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah. He helped lead the Chargers to the Utah 5A state title in 2018. 

He has also spent time as a graduate assistant coach at Utah State. 

Harper, a native of San Diego, played cornerback at the University of Utah from 2002-06, including playing for Jay Hill. In his four years with the Utes he played in 45 career games. He was also part of the 2004 Utah team that went undefeated and played in the Fiesta Bowl under head coach Urban Meyer. 

He also played semi-pro football for the Wasatch Revolution. 

Harper graduated from the University of Utah in 2006 with a degree in Sociology.
