Eddie finished his five-year career at Weber State in 2022. He played in 49 career games for the Wildcats and was part of three teams that won Big Sky Championships and four teams that advanced to the FCS Playoffs.
He earned All-America honors in 2022 and also earned All-Big Sky honors four times, including three first-team honors. He is one of nine players in school history as of 2022, to earn first-team All-Big Sky honors three times.
Heckard played in 49 career games over five years at Weber State. He finished his career with 30 pass breakups, the second-most in Weber State history. He also had seven interceptions, six forced fumbles, and finished with 218 tackles and 13 tackles for loss and four sacks.
2022 (Junior)
Served as a team captain for the Wildcats during the season and helped lead the Wildcats to the second round of the FCS Playoffs…Earned multiple All-America honors for the first time in his career…Was named to the first-team All-America by Stats Perform and Phil Steele and earned second-team honors from the Associated Press…Also earned first-team All-Big Sky honors for the third time in his career…Started all 13 games for the Wildcats at cornerback and total 65 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack…Also had one interception, seven pass breakups and three quarterback hurries…Had a season-high 11 tackles in WSU’s win at Northern Arizona and had nine in the first-round playoff win over North Dakota…Also had a sack in the win over Eastern Washington and had interceptions against Utah State and Montana State.
Earned first-team All-Big Sky honors for the second-straight season…Started all 11 games and had seven pass breakups and one interception…Recorded 48 total tackles with 35 solo tackles…Had a season-high eight tackles in the win at No. 2 Eastern Washington…Also forced two fumbles in that win and had an interception he returned for 18 yards…Was named the Big Sky Player of the Week for his performance…Also forced a fumble against Portland State.
Spring 2021
Earned first-team All-Big Sky honors and helped lead the Wildcats to their fourth-straight Big Sky title…Led the Big Sky with nine pass breakups…Also had one interception and had 30 tackles with 22 solo tackles in the six-game season…Forced a fumble in the season opener at Idaho State and had an interception in the win over UC Davis.
2019 (R-Freshman)
Started all 15 games and earned second-team All-Big Sky honors during Weber State’s historic season, helping WSU win a third-straight Big Sky title and advance to the FCS Semifinals…Returned from an injury in the 2018 season and finished 10th in the Big Sky in interceptions and 16th in passes defended in 2019...Recorded three interceptions during the season, coming in wins over Southern Utah, UC Davis and Montana in the FCS Quarterfinals...Also had seven pass breakups...Finished with 62 tackles with 42 solo tackles and 20 assisted tackles...Had a season-high of nine tackles in the win over Southern Utah and had seven against Idaho...Had three sacks for a loss of 22 yards and finished with 6.5 tackles for loss.
2018
Saw action in three games for the Wildcats, helping Weber State to a second-straight Big Sky title and a trip to the FCS Quarterfinals...Had three tackles in the three games with two tackles and a quarterback hurry in a win over nationally-ranked South Dakota...Suffered a season-ending injury against Northern Colorado.
2017
Sat out the season as a red shirt during WSU’s historic season that included a Big Sky title, a school-record 11 wins and two wins in the FCS Playoffs.
Desert Pines High School
Played for coach Tico Rodriguez at Desert Pines High School...Had the longest interception return in state championship history.
