The 2023-24 season was the fifth season for Eric Daniels as an assistant coach with the Weber State men’s basketball program. He joined the Wildcat coaching staff in July 2019.

In his five seasons with the Wildcats, Daniels has helped lead Weber State to four winning seasons and the Wildcats have been in the top four of the Big Sky Conference each of the last four seasons. He has helped develop several players to all-conference honors. 

During the 2023-24 season, Daniels helped lead Weber State to a 20-win season, including a road win at No. 23 Saint Mary’s, WSU’s first win against a ranked opponent in 23 years. Weber State also beat NCAA Tournament teams Yale and South Dakota State during the season.   

He also helped lead Weber State’s Dillon Jones to Big Sky MVP honors and first-team All-District and All-Big Sky honors. Jones was also a top-five finalist for the Julius Erving Award, given to the top small forward in the country. 

Daniels came to Weber State from Utah Valley where he spent the past four seasons on the coaching staff with the Wolverines. 

He began his coaching career at Southern Utah in 2008-09, then spent five seasons as an assistant coach at Regis University in Denver, where he was responsible for recruiting and player development. He spent one season on the basketball operations staff of the Orlando Magic, assisting in on-court work, player development and video. 

He played college basketball at Johnson & Wales University in Denver from 2004-08. He scored 1,191 points at the NAIA Division II school while also leading the Wildcats to the 2005 NAIA National Tournament in Branson, Mo. Daniels is the all-time career leader in both points (1,191) and steals (306) at JWU.

He earned honorable mention all-NAIA team honors after averaging 15.8 points and 3.0 steals per game his senior season. He averaged 4.6 steals per game his junior season which led both the NAIA and NCAA. Daniels wrapped up his four-year career with the Wildcats averaging 11.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game.

Daniels is a native of Salt Lake City, and is the son of longtime college coach Donny Daniels, who has been an assistant coach at UCLA, Gonzaga and Utah, as well as the head coach at Cal State Fullerton.  

Daniels graduated from Johnson & Wales University in 2008 with a degree in marketing. He earned a master’s degree in non-profit management from Regis University in 2012.
