Anthony Turner
Turner comes to Weber State after spending 3 seasons at Utah Valley. His responsibilities included serving as the associate head coach at Utah Valley with his duties including, program's recruiting coordinator, defensive coordinator, and post player development coach. He is known nationally for his outstanding recruiting connections and coordination, post player development, scouting and in-game adjustments. In his first season, he helped guide the Wolverines to a WAC Tournament semifinal run for the second straight year marking only the second time in program history to advance beyond the opening round of the conference tournament. Turner was the post position coach for two All-WAC honorees; Sam Lubcke who earned the All-WAC Newcomer award and was the only player in the WAC to average a double/double (points/rebounds) in conference play and Jordan Holland who finished 5th in the WAC in scoring and earned Second Team All-Conference honors.  He twice coordinated defenses that led the WAC in steals, forced turnovers and defensive rebounds.

Additionally, for one of the three seasons spent in Orem, and two in Albuquerque, the programs were honored by the WBCA as having one of the Top 25 GPA's in the Country.  Turner's commitment to academic success mirrors that of Harris and it is evident in the 18 WAC All-Academic honorees during his tenure at UVU.

"It's exciting to have Anthony join our Wildcat family," Harris said. "I have known him for some time now, going back to  our days battling each other in the PAC 12 and Mountain West conferences. He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience and leadership to the table. His ability to recruit both talent and character will be huge for us. He values relationships, he encourages growth and truly believes there are life lessons to be learned while being a part of a team.  Coach Turner is a giver, a teacher and a tremendous addition to my staff. His impact will be felt immediately."

Prior to his time at UVU, Turner spent five years as an assistant coach for the University of New Mexico. While with the Lobos, Turner served as the primary recruiting coordinator, mastering every aspect of recruiting. Players that Turner recruited to UNM accounted for six first team All-MWC awards, two All-Defense awards, two All-Freshman awards, one sixth player award and the 2019 MWC Player of the Year in Jaisa Nunn. Turner also worked with the post players and under his tutelage Lobo players finished second in the Mountain West Conference in blocked shots in 2011-12. The Lobos were invited to postseason play three times, advanced to two MWC Tournament Championship games and set a UNM program record for longest winning streak in the 2014-2015 season.

Turner was also part of the staff that aided Head Coach Yvonne Sanchez in earning the MWC Coach of the year honors in the 2014-2015 season.  Turner was selected to participate in the NCAA BCA/ACE program in 2011. This highly selective and prestigious program selects 24 minority assistant coaches in basketball, 12 women's basketball assistants and 12 men's basketball assistants and trains them at the NCAA headquarters, with the purpose of preparing them to become successful head coaches.

Before serving at New Mexico, Turner spent a season with Boise State, two seasons with Oregon State, six years with UNLV and two years with San Diego State. In  his first year at Oregon State he helped the program to a 20 win season for the first time in 20 years. Also at OSU, he recruited two Pac-12 All-Freshman team players, one First Team All-Pac-12 player, one Pac-12 All-Defensive team and earned a bid to the WNIT.  In his six years at UNLV, the Rebels earned four trips to postseason play including an appearance in the championship game of the WNIT. Also at UNLV, as the post position coach, he helped two players earn All-American honors.

He started his career as a student assistant for the University of Colorado for two seasons. In his career, he has recruited and coached 18 all-conference players, 22 eventual professional players, including four WNBA players in Seqouia Holmes, Constance Jinks, Haiden Palmer, and Shamela Hampton.

Turner has amassed more than 20 years of experience coaching and assisting with women's basketball programs in the West. He is a 2008 graduate of the University of Colorado. He and his wife Jaime have twin daughters, Alexis and Justice.
