OGDEN, Utah - Weber State placed five players in double figure scoring, led by newcomer Kellen McCoy's 14 points, as the Wildcats shot past Laval University from Quebec, Canada, 77-55 in WSU's first exhibition game of the 2007-08 season.

McCoy, a diminutive 5-6, 175 junior college transfer from Northern Oklahoma JC, scored nine of his game high 14 in the second half including seven in an 11-0 scoring run which gave the 'Cats a 56-35 lead with 11:28 remaining and essentially sealed the win. McCoy was 2-3 from the field including 1-1 from the three-point line and a perfect 9-9 at the line.

"Overall I was pleased with our effort," said Rahe. "We got a lot of looks in a lot of different combinations and 10 of our 11 players got double figure minutes played. We obviously still have a lot of things to work on but it was good to play against some else in a different uniform."

Dezmon Harris scored 12 points and Daviin Davis added 11, six of them coming on highlight reel dunks. Tyler Billings and Steve Panos each chipped in with 10. Arturas Valeika was game's leading rebounder with nine.

The Wildcats played the game without guard Juan Pablo Silveira (6-4, 205 Jr.). Silveira, who earned second team all-Big Sky Conference honors last season, will miss the next eight to ten days with tendinitis problems. Silveira is WSU's top returning scorer. He averaged 11.1 points last season and was the team leader in assists at 3.2 per game.

Weber State plays its final exhibition game on Monday, November 5 at 8:05 p.m. hosting Fort Lewis College from Durango, Colorado. The Wildcats open the 2007-08 season on Saturday, November 10 hosting in-state rival Utah State University in a 7:05 p.m. game in the Dee Events Center.
