WSU Drops Third Straight With 3-1 Defeat at Idaho State

The Weber State volleyball team dropped its third straight match falling 3-1 at Idaho State Thursday in Pocatello, Idaho. ISU picked up a 25-17, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23 win that dropped the Wildcats to 14-11 overall and 5-6 in Big Sky play. The Bengals improved to 3-8 in conference action with the win.
Idaho State started the match out strong with a great first set. The Bengals hit .625 in the set with 15 kills and had no hitting errors in 24 attempts. ISU broke away from a 7-7 tie with a 10-3 run and never looked back in the set.
Weber State trailed 15-7 in the second set but rallied to close out the match on a 18-7 run to secure the set and tie the match up at 1-1. But from there Idaho State took control. The Bengals never trailed in the third set and closed out the match with a win in the fourth set, snapping Weber State's four-match winning streak over the Bengals.
Idaho State finished with nine more kills and 11 more digs than Weber State. They also posted 10 service aces, while the Wildcats committed 11 service errors. ISU also out hit Weber State .242 to .100.
Junior Jenna Leggat led the Wildcats with nine kills, marking just the second match this season in which no Wildcat had double digits in kills. Chelsea Bair added eight kills and 11 digs, which moved her into ninth place in career digs at Weber State.
Senior Brittney Bisaillon had seven kills and six blocks for Weber State and Caitlyn Anderson added 13 digs.
At 6-5 in Big Sky play Weber State is currently in seventh place in the conference standings, with five conference matches remaining. Thursday's match was the last of a five-match road trip for the ?Cats. Weber State returns home for the first time in three weeks when they host Seattle in a non-conference match Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Swenson Gym.
