'Cats End Skid With Win Over Seattle

The Weber State volleyball team ended its three-match losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Seattle in a non-conference match Saturday night at the Swenson Gym. The Wildcats improved to 15-11 overall with an 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-11 victory over the Redhawks.
Seattle jumped out with a strong first set, as they out hit the Wildcats .242 to .028 in route to winning the set. The second set had nine ties and five lead changes but Weber State hit .312 and was able to win the set.
The ?Cats dominated the final two sets, never trailing in either one. WSU hit .276 in the third set and hit .450 in the fourth with 13 kills and just four errors. Seattle hit -.043 in the fourth set, posting six kills and seven errors.
“This was one that we needed to get our confidence back and get back on the winning track,” said WSU head coach Al Givens. “We regrouped after the first set and got after it defensively. We were very aggressive in the final two sets and did what we needed to to get the win.”
Weber State finished with ten more kills and 20 more digs than the Redhawks and out hit them .239 to .143. WSU also had eight service aces and Seattle had 11 service errors.
Chelsea Bair led the Wildcats with 16 kills and 15 digs for her 15th double-double of the season, the most in the Big Sky. The junior also hit .367 for the match and had three blocks and two service aces.
Leah Burmeister added 12 kills and eight digs, while hitting .375. Senior Brittney Bisaillon added 10 kills for the Wildcats and Caitlyn Anderson had 18 digs.
Weber State will face its final non-conference match of the season this Tuesday when they host Utah Valley at the Swenson Gym.
