TREVYN SMITH (2nd Team), CAMERON HIGGINS (3rd Team), Named to 2008 Associated Press All-America Team

Weber State running back TREVYN SMITH (5-9, 210 Jr. / Springville, Utah / Springville HS) and quarterback CAMERON HIGGINS (6-2, 195 Soph. / Hawaii Kai, Hawai'i / St. Louis HS) have been named to the 2008 Associated Press All-America team. Smith was named to the Second Team while Higgins was accorded Third Team honors.
It marks the second year in a row a Wildcat has been named to the A.P. Team. Last year, David Hale (OT) earned Second Team honors. Smith had one of the best overall seasons in Big Sky Conference history. He had his third straight 1,000+ yard rushing season and became just the second player in Big Sky Conference history to lead the league in Rushing Yards for three straight seasons. He tallied 1,585 yards on 295 carries and scored 21 touchdowns. He became the first player in Weber State history to rush for 4,000 career yards and is now the school leader with 4,028 in 36 career games and he still has a season remaining. In addition to his running prowess, Smith caught 62 passes for 778 yards and seven touchdowns. He was the only player in NCAA Division I FCS to rush for over 1,000 yards and have over 500 receiving yards as well. He led NCAA Division I FCS in SCORING with 168 points. Higgins was named the 2008 BIG SKY CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. He broke Jamie Martin's Weber State single season passing record throwing for 4,477 yards and 36 touchdowns in 14 games. He led the Big Sky, and was 3rd nationally, in Passing Efficiency with a rating of 166.26, which also is a new Weber State single season record. He led the Big Sky, and was 4th nationally, in Total Offense per game at 313.07. Higgins, with two seasons ahead of him, has completed 436-698-22 passes for 6,436 yards and 53 touchdowns. His career Passing Efficiency Rating is 158.7.
