UC Davis Sweeps Wildcats 7-0

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis ran away with a 7-0 win over visiting Weber State, Friday afternoon, in a non-conference women's tennis match at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Aggies swept doubles to claim the first point of the contest and won five of their six singles matches in straight sets. Heryzl Legaspi won for the seventh time in her last eight matches for UC Davis (5-5).
The Wildcats, who had been very strong in recent doubles matches, suffered losses in all three spots on Friday. UC Davis took the No. 1 spot 8-5 and cruised for 8-1 and 8-3 wins in the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively.
In singles play, only Inalise Pienaar managed to force a third set. The senior opened the match with a 7-6 (3) tiebreak win in the first set, but struggled thereafter, losing 6-1 in the second set and 10-3 in a superset third.
With the loss, Weber State dropped to 2-7. The 'Cats will continue their California road swing with a Big Sky match against Sacramento State on Saturday morning.
