Cameron Higgins and J.D. Folsom Named Big Sky Players of the Week

Weber State quarterback CAMERON HIGGINS (6-2, 195 Soph. / Hawai'i Kai, Oahu, Hawai'i) and strongside linebacker J.D. FOLSOM (6-3, 235 Sr. / Salmon, Idaho) have been named the Big Sky Conference OFFENSIVE and DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK, respectively, for September 20th.

Higgins, who was named the league's Co-Offensive Player last week, completed 21-33 passes, no interceptions, for 380 yards and four touchdowns leading the Wildcats to a 32-27 road win over Sacramento State in the 2008 Big Sky Conference opener. Higgins also had a rushing touchdown. He threw passes of 19 and 31 yards to BRYANT ETEUATI. The 31-yard strike put the 'Cats up 32-20 in the fourth quarter. He found TIM TOONE on a 60-yard strike. It was the second time in the last two weeks he's thrown a TD pass of 60-yards or longer. The other touchdown pass was a seven-yarder to CODY NAKAMURA. ... Higgins is the current NCAA Division I FCS Passing Efficiency Rating leader at 176.49. He's completed 80-123 passes this season (.650) for 1,232 yards and 12 touchdowns in four games. Last year in 11 games, He threw for 1,959 yards and 17 TDs. Higgins earned Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors in 2007 and was named the Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year.

Folsom, who earned Second Team All-Big Sky Conference honors in 2007 after transferring from Snow (Utah) JC, had a WSU career high 14 tackles in Saturday' s game, five of then unassisted. He also had a forced fumble. Last season he was second on the team in total tackles with 73 (30 unassisted). He's second again this season with 29 total stops (13 unassisted) and tied for the team lead in Quarterback Sacks with three for minus eight yards.
