Weber State head football coach, RON McBRIDE, announced three new members of his football staff and a shuffling of assignments for those coaches returning for the 2009 season.

Taking over as the defensive line coach will be INOKE (E-no-key) BRECKTERFIELD. Former BYU quarterback JASON BECK takes over as the quarterbacks coach while former University of Utah and NFL star, ANDRE DYSON comes to coach the defensive cornerbacks.

McBride also announced that offensive line coach DON ECK will assume the duties of Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. JAKE COOKUS and COLTON SWAN have been named Co-Defensive Coordinators. Cookus, who coached cornerbacks the past four seasons, will now handle the safeties. SWAN has been coaching the safeties and now moves over to coach the linebackers.

A native of Honolulu, INOKE BRECKTERFIELD was an outstanding prep player at Damien Memorial High School. He played four seasons at Oregon State under Coach Mike Riley (his first tenure at OSU). In 1998, he was named First Team All-PAC 10 and Third Team All-American. He was the recipient of the prestigious MORRIS TROPHY, awarded annually to the PAC-10's top defensive lineman. He left OSU as the school's career leader in tackles for loss with 55.5 and quarterback sacks with 19.5. He currently ranks second in both categories.

"Inoke was an outstanding linemen at Oregon State and in the Canadian Football League, so he knows what it takes to be success. He's been helping at Oregon State for the past couple of years and prepared himself to become a full-time coach. He's got a great personality and positive attitude. He will be a real key for us for our recruiting efforts especially in Hawai'i." said McBride.

Upon leaving Oregon State, he played two seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, and three seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League before returning to Oregon State. In 2007, he completed his bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Oregon State.

He and his wife, Carol, are the parents of a seven-year old son, Kalevi. Carol played soccer at USC from 1996-98 where she earned all-PAC 10 honors.

JASON BECK comes to Weber State after spending the 2008 season serving as a graduate assistant at Louisiana State where he assisted former BYU head coach, Gary Crowton, in running the Tiger offense. LSU set 10 offensive school records in 2008 and averaged 38.6 points per contest.

"Jason has a great feel for the game and has picked up some valuable experience the last three seasons," said McBride. "He has a calm, but intense, demeanor in his coaching style. He will be a great fit for our program."

Beck played at BYU where he was a backup for another Beck (no relation), John, who went on to become a draft pick for the Miami Dolphins. After graduating in 2006 with a degree in communications, he spent the two years as a graduate assistant at BYU for Coach Bronco Mendenhall where he coached the scout teams and broke down film on opponents. During his two seasons as a graduate assistant, the Cougars won two Mountain West Conference championships and were ranked first in the Conference in both total offense and scoring.

Before coming to BYU, Beck played two seasons at the College of the Canyons Cougars where he led his team to an undefeated season and a #1 ranking in 2004.

ANDRE DYSON is no stranger to the Ogden area. He grew up most of his life in Clinton, Utah. He earned All-State honors at Clearfield High under Coach Randy Johnson. He also earned All-State honors as a soccer player as well. He still holds the Clearfield High school record in the 40-yard dash at 4.41.

He went to play three seasons at Utah under Coach Ron McBride, then went on to play seven seasons in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans (2001-2004), Seattle Seahawks (2005) and the New York Jets (2006-2007). I

With the Seahawks in 2005, he was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance on Monday Nigh Football returning both an interceptions (72 yards) and fumble (25 yards) for touchdowns in Seattle's 42-0 win vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Obviously Andre brings a great deal of experience to our coaching staff." said McBride. "He's been under the influence and learned from many excellent coaches from high school through his professional career. He knows what it takes to be a successful defensive back and I have full confidence he will impart that knowledge to our players. We are very lucky to have him join our staff,"

Andre is the younger brother of Kevin Dyson who was a star receiver at Utah and with the Tennessee Titans. Andre and Kevin were teammates with the Titans. They became the first brothers in NFL history to score touchdowns in the same game.

Andre's father, Steve Dyson, played football and basketball at Utah State. He mother, Susan Campbell attended Weber State. Married, Andre's wife's name is Heather.
