Wildcats Drop Road Game to Utah

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Weber State women's basketball team fell to 3-4 on the season Tuesday following a 56-41 loss to the University of Utah (3-3) at the Huntsman Center.
The Wildcats made just 14 of 59 shots from the floor (23.7 percent), while the Utes shot at a 42 percent clip for the game. WSU was also outrebounded 51 to 29 and gave up a 32-10 edge in points in the paint.
Weber State did manage to get after the Utes defensively, forcing 20 turnovers for a 21-13 advantage in points off turnovers. The Wildcats turned the ball over just nine times on the night.
Tonya Schnibbe led the Wildcats with 11 points on the night. She also added three rebounds, four assists and one steal. The other four starters combined for only eight points.
Sarah Conner came off the bench to score 10 points. She was the lone Wildcat to shoot better than 33 percent as she hit three of six shots from the field.
The Utes placed three players in double figures, with Kalee Whipple and Taryn Wicijowski each scoring 16. Janita Badon added 11 points. Wicijowski added a game-high 14 rebounds, while Halie Sawyer chipped in with 12 rebounds and eight points.
The Wildcats will return home to face Utah Valley on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2:00 p.m.
