OGDEN, Utah -- Montana forced 24 Wildcat turnovers en route to a 75-51 win over Weber State (8-17 overall; 3-9 Big Sky) on Thursday night at the Dee Events Center.
"We got beat by a better team tonight," said WSU head coach Carla Taylor. "But the important ones are coming up. The four teams that we have left that are all in the same position that we are. We have to just get rested, come back and get ready for Montana State."
The Grizzlies (22-4; 11-1) turned the defensive pressure into a 31-9 edge in points off turnovers. The Wildcats led 6-5 with 15:50 remaining in the opening half, but Montana went on a 26-4 scoring run over the next 10 minutes to take a 21-point edge. WSU would get no closer than 16 points the rest of the way.
Sonya Rogers led the Grizzlies with 23 points on 8 of 13 shooting from the field, including 5 of 6 from behind the arc. Sarah Ena added 14 points for Montana, while the Big Sky's leading scorer, Mandy Morales, chipped in with 13. Morales also added game-highs of six rebounds and eight assists.
The Wildcats were led by Tonya Schnibbe, who hit 6 of 11 shots for 16 points. Caitlin Anderson added 10 points and matched game-high honors with six rebounds.
