'Cats End Season With Win Over ISU

OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State women's basketball team (10-19 overall; 5-11 Big Sky) ended the 2008-09 season on a high note with a 74-60 win over conference-rival Idaho State (10-19; 7-9) on Friday night at the Dee Events Center.
"We played well as a team on the defensive end and we played well as a team on the offensive end," said WSU head coach Carla Taylor. "We didn't have much to play for but pride, but it was nice to see us come out and play as hard as we did."
The Wildcats used a 16-6 run to take a 22-12 lead with 8:08 remaining in the first half, and pushed the lead to 21 points with 19 seconds remaining before halftime.
WSU led by as much as 27 points in the second half before the Bengals clawed back to within 14 as the 'Cats emptied the bench on Senior Night.
Caitlin Anderson led all players with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Sarah Conner and Ali Thorderson joined her in double figures with 14 and 11 points, respectively. Tonya Schnibbe posted nine points and a game-high eight assists.
The Bengals also had three players reach double figure points as Oana Iacovita scored 17 to go along with 16 from Jenna Brown and 14 from Michelle Grohs.
