Weber State was swept 3-0 by the sixth ranked Hawaii Rainbow Wahine late Thursday night in the first day of action at the Honolulu Advertiser Volleyball Challenge in Honolulu. No. 6 Hawaii beat the Wildcats 25-13, 25-13, 25-17 to improve to 5-2 on the year, while the Wildcats drop to 1-7 with their fifth-straight loss.

Hawaii opened up the match strong as they never trailed in the opening set. With a 3-2 Hawaii lead the Rainbow Wahine went on a 9-1 run and never looked back in the set. They hit .400 for the set, while the Wildcats hit .160.

In the second set the Wildcats held a 6-4 lead early on before a 10-0 run by Hawaii put the Wahine in control. Hawaii hit .591 in that set with 13 kills and no attack errors, while Weber State had seven kills and eight errors.

There were six ties and three lead changes in the third set. With the 'Cats leading 8-7 Hawaii went on a 8-2 run and never looked back. For the match Hawaii out hit the Wildcats .378 to .025 and had 37 kills and nine errors, while WSU posted 23 kills and 21 errors. Hawaii also had nine aces in the match.

Weber State was led by Chelsea Bair who recorded team-highs with seven kills and eight digs.

The Wildcats will face two more matches this weekend in Hawaii and the competition will still be strong. WSU will take on tenth-ranked Stanford Friday night at 9:00 p.m. and then face UTSA Saturday at 9:00 p.m. before returning home.
