Wildcats Fall 3-0 to Washington State

Ogden, UT -- Washington State swept Weber State 3-0 Monday evening in a non-conference match at the Swenson Gym. The Cougars handed the 'Cats a 25-20, 25-17, 25-22 loss, dropping Weber State to 1-6 on the season.
The Cougars came out strong in set one and never trailed, then rolled to a 2-0 lead with a win in set two. The 'Cats best set was in set three where there were 14 ties and 11 lead changes. Weber State held a 19-8 lead when Washington State went on a 4-0 run and never looked back in route to the win.
“Washington State is a great team and you have to give them credit for playing a great match,” said WSU head coach Al Givens. “We took some good shots but they dug the ball really well. We hung in there and played well in spurts. We just need to keep moving forward.”
The Cougars finished with eight more kills and 11 more digs and out hit the Wildcats .253 to .093. They also finished the night with seven team blocks.
Washington State improved to 7-0 with the win. It marked the first time a Pac-10 team has visited Ogden since 1995.
Chelsea Bair led Weber State with 13 kills and nine digs, while hitting .286 for the match. Senior Jenna Leggat added eight kills, four digs, and three blocks. Caitlyn Anderson had six kills and eight digs for the 'Cats.
Weber State will now head to Hawaii for a tournament this weekend. The 'Cats will play three matches beginning Thursday when they take on nationally ranked Hawaii. WSU will also meet nationally ranked Stanford and UTSA in the tournament before beginning Big Sky Conference action next weekend.
