Wildcats swept by Sacramento State

Despite 11 kills from sophomore left side hitter Bethany Wray, the Weber State University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-21) to Sacramento State on Saturday night at Colberg Court. Wray also added seven digs for the Wildcats.
Freshman left side hitter Piper Wahlin added six kills and six digs for Weber State, which fell to 0-7 in Big Sky play (2-17 overall).
Sophomore setter Caitlin Penrod, starting her second consecutive match in play of senior setter Kim Lissinna, had 27 assists.
Weber State had just 28 kills on 105 total attacks, hitting .095 for the match.
The first set was tight, with 10 ties and three lead changes before Sacramento State pulled out the 25-22 win. The second set was all Hornets, who pulled away quickly and won by 12 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
Weber State, which rallied from an 0-2 hole against the Hornets in Sacramento last season, came out firing in the third set. The final set featured 11 ties and six lead chances, with Sacramento State pulling away from a 16-16 tie to take a five point lead and ultimately the match.
The Wildcats will return home on Tuesday, stepping briefly out of Big Sky Conference play to host in-state rival BYU at 7 p.m. in Swenson Gym.
