BOZEMAN, Mont. - On the sidelines, as the match ended, the Wildcats one-by-one embraced their coach in celebration.

A superb offensive effort from sophomore middle blocker Carissa Noble and gritty, crunch-time play made sure that Weber State coach Al Givens left the Purple and White a winner.

Givens, who is resigning after 18 years as Weber State's coach, finishes as the Wildcats career leader in coaching victories.

Noble had 15 kills and hit .650, the majority coming at critical times as Weber State staked out a 3-0 (25-22, 31-29, 25-20) victory over Montana State at Shroyer Gym.

Redshirt-freshman Elli Graff, a Bozeman native, added 10 kills and hit .420 with four blocks.

Sophomore left side hitter Bethany Wray added 10 kills, eight digs and three blocks.

Senior setter Kim Lissinna, in her final match in a Wildcat uniform, had 40 assists, nine digs and a pair of blocks.

The Wildcats captured the first set in nail-biting fashion, rallying from a 6-0 deficit. Weber State trailed 22-20, but scored the final five points of the set to take 25-22 victory and lead the match 1-0. Sophomore left side hitter Emily Jones and Noble each had four kills in the set, which saw Weber State hit .429.

As exciting as the first set was, the second proved even more dramatic. Weber State trailed 22-20, but again rallied to take a 23-22 lead. The set went see-saw, with the Wildcats finally prevailing 31-29 on a block by Noble and redshirt-freshman hitter Shanae Langston. Noble also had the kill on the 30th point, hitting a powerful swing across center.

Weber State roared out in the third set, leading 7-3 and eventual blowing out to an 18-9 advantage before trading points with Montana State down the stretch and claim the five-point win.

As a team, Weber State hit .343 with 48 kills on 99 attacks. The Wildcats also had eight team blocks.

The Wildcats finish their 2010 season at 4-27 overall, 2-14 in Big Sky Conference play.
