OGDEN, Utah -- Senior Night at the Dee Events Center did not go as well as Ali Thorderson, Sarah Conner and Tonya Schnibbe would have liked. The three Wildcat seniors wrapped up their careers on Saturday night in a 75-61 loss to Sacramento State.
The Hornets put their run-and-gun offense to work, hitting 12 of 29 shots from three-point range. Ashley Garcia and Emily Christensen led the way for Sac State, scoring a game-high 21 points apiece. Charday Hunt, the Big Sky's leading scorer, added another 16 points for the Hornets.
Sac State led 44-30 at the half, but the Wildcats pulled to within three points with 11:03 to play. Weber State would get no closer, however, as the Hornets quickly pushed the lead back to 11.
Schnibbe wrapped up her stellar career for the Wildcats with a team-high 15 points. The senior point guard hit 6 of 17 shots from the field. She also hauled in five rebounds and posted a team-high five assists, with only one turnover against the frenetic Hornet full court pressure.
Schnibbe finished the season with 191 assists, just three shy of the Weber State single season assist record that she set last year.
Thorderson scored six points and hauled in a team-high eight rebounds, while Conner recorded five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The Wildcats finish the season at 9-20 overall and 3-13 in the Big Sky. Sac State, meanwhile, moved to 15-14 overall and 10-6 in Big Sky play.
