Volleyball falls to Washington State, UC Irvine on Saturday.

PULLMAN, Wash -- The Weber State University women's volleyball team came up short in a pair of matches on Saturday in the 2010 season-opening Nike Cougar Invitational.
Weber State opened Saturday with a 3-1 loss to host Washington State, and then finished the day with a 3-0 loss to UC Irvine.
In the morning match, redshirt freshman middle blocker Elli Graff had seven kills and hit .462 to lead the Weber State University women's volleyball team against Washington State on Saturday morning, but the Wildcats came up short against their Pac-10 opponent.
Sophomore outside hitter Bethany Wray and sophomore middle blocker Carissa Noble each added seven kills for Weber State, which fell 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-15, 25-13) in its second match at the Nike Cougar Invitational.
Meagan Ganzer had 22 kills for the hosts, who improved to 2-0, while Weber State dropped to 0-2.
For the second straight match the Wildcats started out strong and captured the first set of the match.
Washington State, however, rallied to decisively win the second, third and fourth sets and claim the win.
The Wildcats had 35 kills and hit .120 against the Cougars.
In the evening match, Noble and Wray each tallied eight kills against the Anteaters of UC Irvine, but it wasn't enough to lift the Wildcats to a victory.
Weber State hit just .084 against UC Irvine, falling 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-23) at Bohler Gym.
The Wildcats dropped to 0-3 on the year, while the Anteaters improved to 2-1.
Junior libero Nina Blake had 12 digs for WSU, which struggling in serving the ball with 13 service errors.
Next up for Weber State is in-state rival Utah State on Tuesday, August 31. First serve against the Aggies is set for 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah.
