'Cats swept by Vikings

OGDEN, Utah - The Wildcats' hopes of winning streak were undone by the red-hot swings of the Vikings.
Portland State's Megan Ellis had 15 kills on Friday night, leading her team to a 25-17, 25-12, 25-22 victory over the Weber State University women's volleyball team at Swenson Gym.
Junior outside hitter Bethany Wray led Weber State with nine kills and four blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Shanae Langston had eight kills, but the Wildcats couldn't generate offensive consistency and finished with a negative attack percentage (-.031) for just the third time this season.
Weber State dropped to 1-8 in Big Sky play (1-20 overall) with the loss, while Portland State improved to 6-3 in league action and 10-11 overall.
The Wildcats were also outblocked (9.0-7.0) for the first time since Sept. 10, a span of 11 straight matches.
After trading points early, the Vikings took command of the first set and captured the eight-point win, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
Portland State seized control of the match in the section, hitting .435 and getting four team blocks to take the 13-point win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Weber State was poised to extend the night after taking a 22-19 lead in the third set, but the Portland State scored the final six points of the set to close it out.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday night, hosting Eastern Washington at 7 p.m. at Swenson Gym. The match is Weber State's Think Pink match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness, with the first 100 fans getting a free pink t-shirt.
Weber State's football team will be hosting Southern Utah at 4 p.m. and fans that attend the football game can get into the volleyball match free by presenting their ticket stub.
