'Cats Beat Thunderbrids 84-66 to Improve to 6-2

OGDEN, Utah - Weber State got back on the winning track with an 84-66 win over Southern Utah Saturday at the Dee Events Center. With the win the Wildcats improve to 6-2 on the season.
Weber State shot 56 percent from the field in the game, their second best shooting night of the season. The Wildcats also dished out 20 assists and made nine three-pointers.
Weber State junior, the leading scorer in the nation, scored 31 points to lead the Wildcats to the victory. Lillard finished the game 9-15 from the field, including 5-8 from three-point land. He was also 8-9 from the free throw line and dished out a career nine assists. He also moved ahead of Harold Arceneaux into ninth in WSU career scoring. Lillard is now averaging 26.9 points per game.
Three other Wildcats scored in double figures as Kyle Tresnak had 15 points and Jordan Richardson and Byron Fulton each had 10. Richardson got his first career start.
Weber State never trailed in the game and jumped out to a 28-20 lead with 7:40 to play and pushed the lead to 12 at halftime. They increased their lead to 25 with 7:00 to play in the second half in route to beating the Thunderbirds for the fifth straight time.
Southern Utah, who will join the Big Sky next year, shot 48 percent from the field and was led by Ray Jones, Jr. who finished with 14 points. SUU outrebounded Weber State 28-27.
The Wildcats will next play at California Friday in Berkeley, California.
