The Weber State University women's basketball team fell behind 15-0 in the early minutes and were unable to rally as they fell 65-52 to Eastern Washington on Saturday afternoon in Big Sky Conference action at Reese Court in Cheney, Wash.
The Wildcats won the opening tip, but almost immediately turned the ball over, one of eight miscues during the Eagles' game-opening run, which turned into a 38-17 halftime advantage.
Weber State trailed by as many as 24 in the second half before trying to stage a late rally. WSU cut the deficit down to nine points with 6:38 to go on a layup from junior center Mikell Woodfield, but that's as close as the Wildcats would come.
Freshman point guard Justine Johnson, who missed Thursday's game at Portland State due to a concussion, came off the bench to score a career high 17 points, including 13 after halftime.
Sophomore forward Amanda Hughes added nine points and five rebounds, while freshman guard Jordan Pfau scored a career-high eight points and had five rebounds.
Weber State committed a season-high 26 turnovers and dished off a season-low five assists.
The Wildcats (1-11 Big Sky, 5-19 overall) will return home next week for the final two home games of the season. On Thursday, Weber State will face Idaho State at 7 p.m. in the Dee Events Center, followed by Sacramento State on Saturday at 2 p.m. Saturday's game will be the final home game for the Wildcats' lone senior, Caitlin Anderson.
