CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Weber State University women's volleyball team battled in-state rival Southern Utah on Saturday night, but came up a little short of their goal.

Despite six kills and a .500 attack percentage from redshirt freshman middle blocker Audrey Gee, the Wildcats fell 25-21, 25-15, 25-22 to the Thunderbirds at Centrum Arena.

Gee also tallied five blocks, the 10th time this season she has reached at least that total.

Junior middle blocker Briana Wilms added six kills and third blocks, and senior middle blocker Dama Cox had five kills and four blocks for the Wildcats.

Senior libero Laurel Bodily had 17 digs for Weber State, while freshman setter Whitney Hunt had 13 assists and a block.

Southern Utah was led by Cashaana Renfro's 14 kills.

The Wildcats and Thunderbirds battled closely early in all three sets, but Southern Utah pulled away to win the first two and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Weber State captured its first lead of the match early in the third set, but was unable to sustain it as the Thunderbirds edged back ahead to stay and finished the match out.

Weber State (2-10 Big Sky, 8-15 overall) will return to action on Thursday against Northern Colorado.
