OGDEN - Kyle Tresnak had a career-high 23 points to lead Weber State to an 83-70 win over Northern Arizona Thursday night at the Dee Events Center. The win is Weber State's eighth straight and the 'Cats improve to 12-3 overall and 7-0 in Big Sky play.

The first half saw six lead changes and the score was tied eight times. Northern Arizona led 31-30 with 2:52 to play when the Wildcats finished the half on a 7-0 run and took a 38-31 lead at halftime. Tresnak had 11 points in the first half on 5-11 shooting. NAU shot 53 percent from the field in the half.

Weber State extended the lead to 14 points with 13:27 to play but NAU responded with a 6-0 run to cut the lead back to eight points with 10:00 to play. The Lumberjacks would never get closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Weber State shot 49 percent from the field, compared to 50 percent for the Lumberjacks. It marked the first time all season Weber State was outshot by its opponent and won the game. The Wildcats outrebounded NAU 34-29 and had nine blocked shots. Weber State shot 87 percent from the free throw line.

"We didn't quite have as much energy and emotion tonight as we usually and NAU was very aggressive," said WSU head coach Randy Rahe. "But we came out a little stronger in the second half and had a lot of guys step up and really play with some confidence and we were able to find a way.

Tresnak finished the night with 23 points, the fourth time in his career he has reached 20 or more points. He was 10-19 from the field and also pulled down eight rebounds and added two blocked shots.

Freshman Joel Bolomboy had his third double-double of his career, finishing with 13 points and 13 rebounds. He was 9-9 from the free throw line and also had a career-high five blocked shots, the most by a Wildcat since Darin Mahoney in 2010.

Davion Berry added 17 points on 5-9 shooting and was 6-6 from the free throw line. Scott Bamforth added nine and Frank Otis had eight points for the Wildcats.

Weber State has won 11 of its last 12 games and is off to a 7-0 start in Big Sky play for the second straight season.

The Wildcats will be back home Saturday night to host Sacramento State before heading out on a four-game road trip.
