In another five-set thriller, the Wildcats fell to Sacramento State on Friday night at the Swenson Gym.
Weber State was led by Rebecca Fuchs who recorded 16 kills while Audrey Biggs added 13 kills. Megan Bean was the third Wildcat in double figures with 11 kills on the night.
For Sacramento State, Kayla Beal and Sloan Lovett led the way with 19 and 17 kills respectively.
Every game was well-contested except the fourth set which the Wilcats dominated, 25-14. There were 40 total tie scores in the five sets and 23 lead changes.
The Wildcats took the first set after a back-and-forth battle throughout, eventually pulling away with the 26-24 win.
Sacramento State went on a run in the middle of the second set to pull away for a 25-17 victory. The Hornets took set three as well, this time in heartbreaking fashion. Weber State and Sacramento State battled before a Beal kill pushed the Hornets over the top for the 29-27 win.
With their backs against the wall, the Wildcats jumped out to 7-1 lead before Sacramento State clawed back to within one point midway through the set. The Wildcats, however, pulled away with another rally to force the fifth set with a dominating 25-14 win.
The fifth set had all the drama that the match deserved, with the two teams see-sawing back and forth until the last few points which all broke Sacramento State's way. After the game was tied at 12, the Hornets scored the last three points of the set and the match to win it 15-12.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-7 in Big Sky Conference play and 5-17 overall while the Hornets improve to 4-3 in conference play and 9-9 overall with the win.
The Wildcats will hit the road with matches at Eastern Washington and Portland State on the 17th and 19th respectively before returning home to face Northern Arizona on the 24th.
