SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal Poly rushed for 365 yards and handed Weber State its sixth straight loss, shutting out the Wildcats 47-0 Saturday night at Spanos Stadium.

The Mustangs had 64 carries for the 365 yards. Weber State finished the game with 32 carries for just 53 yards on the ground.

Cal Poly totaled 580 yards of total offense, compared to 173 the Wildcats. It was the first time the Wildcats were shutout since a 38-0 at William & Mary in 2009 and the first shutout by a Big Sky opponent since a 34-0 loss at Idaho State in 2002.

The Mustangs held a 20-0 lead at halftime and Mustang senior  Kristaan Ivory scored all three Cal Poly touchdowns in the first half, with two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. The Mustangs rushed for 134 yards in the first half, compared to just 11 rushing yards for the Wildcats in the half.

The Mustangs scored two more touchdowns in the third quarter and two in the fourth in route to the win, their second straight over the Wildcats in their second year as members of the Big Sky Conference.

WSU freshman quarterback Austin Chipoletti finished the night 16-23 passing for 115 yards. Erik Walker led the Wildcat receivers with eight catches for 55 yards.

Tony Schmitz was WSU's leading rusher with 18 yards. Zach Smith had 16 yards, Bo Bolen with 15 and Josh Booker with 11. Roman Valezuela, Chris Jones and Adam Padilla each had 13 tackles.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in Big Sky play, while Cal Poly improves to 3-3 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

“Cal Poly did a terrific job stopping our run and we couldn't get anything going offensively,” said WSU head coach Jody Sears. “It comes back to making plays and executing and we weren't able to do that. This was a tough night but we have to stick to our plan and keep trying to improve.”

After playing three of the last four games on the road, the Wildcats will return home next week to host Montana State Saturday at 3:30 at Stewart Stadium. The Bobcats are 2-0 in Big Sky play and came into this week ranked seventh in the nation
