Wildcat volleyball swept by Montana State

BOZEMAN, Mont. – It was a tough night at the office for the Wildcats.

With no players in double-figures kills and 23 kills overall, the Weber State University women's volleyball team suffered a straight set loss to Montana State on Friday night, falling 25-14, 25-23, 25-15 at Schroyer Gym.

Sophomore outside hitter Rebecca Fuchs had seven kills to lead the Wildcats, but no other player had more than four as the Bobcats won the match in just 82 minutes. Fuchs also had a team-high seven digs and three blocks.

Freshman middle blocker Megan Bean had five blocks, while freshman middle blocker Katie Harvey added four blocks for the Wildcats (3-12 Big Sky, 7-22 overall).

Montana State (4-11 Big Sky, 6-20 overall) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set and never trailed in taking the 1-0 advantage in the match.

The second set was a dogfight as it saw 15 ties and six lead changes, but the Bobcats edged ahead in the end to take the two-point win and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set started in disastrous fashion for Weber State as Montana State stormed ahead 7-0 and never trailed, cruising to the 10-point win to sweep the match.

The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday night when they travel to Missoula, Mont., to take on Montana. First serve between Weber State and the Grizzlies is set for 7 p.m. at West Auxiliary Gym.
