OGDEN, Utah – It was not a pleasant night at the office for the Wildcats.
Facing their 10th opponent in 12 days, the Weber State University women's volleyball team got off to a slow start and never recovered in dropping a straight set, 25-17, 25-17, 25-19 decision to in-state rival Utah Valley on Tuesday night at Swenson Gym.
Junior outside hitter Audrey Biggs and sophomore outside hitter Mariah Kahawaii each had seven kills to lead the Wildcats, and freshman outside hitter Ciera Borho added five kills to the effort.
Sophomore middle blocker Audrey Hunter had four blocks assists for Weber State.
Utah Valley (3-8) was led by Kalani Norris' 15 kills.
The Wildcats fell behind 5-0 and 10-1 in the opening set, setting an unfortunate early tone for the match that resonated until the final point was tallied.
The match wrapped up Weber State's non-conference schedule with a 4-10 mark, with the Wildcats set to begin Big Sky Conference action on Thursday against Southern Utah in Cedar City, Utah. WSU will take on Northern Arizona on Saturday in Flagstaff, Ariz.
